Project Description

This new building is to be located on the University’s Health Sciences Campus which is also adjacent to Belfast City Hospital.


It provides 4,656m2 of floor space on 4 main research floors plus a Roof Plantroom and a Basement Floor which accommodates a large Seminar Room, Stores and a Shell Area which is facilitated for future development of additional
laboratory space.


The building form comprises a deep plan block providing all the research laboratory space and a narrow block providing all the office/writeup space, which are planned on each side of a wedge shaped full height top lit Atrium space which extends through to each end of the building with dramatic glazed protruding elements.


The external cladding comprises facing blockwork at Ground Floor Level with high quality metal cladding to the floors above. The Roof Plantroom is stepped back from the main elevations and the
roofscape features two large sculptured flue stacks to enclose the exhaust ducts and will provide a dramatic skyline.
