The redevelopment of Anderson College involved the demolition of a 'B' listed building whilst retaining the principal south and east facades. The new building constructed behind these retained facades provides approximately double the floor area of the original building. To achieve this, an extensive basement area was constructed, providing necessary storage areas, and the height of the new building was extended to two storeys above the retained facades.
The proposals were developed in close dialogue with the Planning Authority and Historic Scotland to ensure that the designs were sympathetic to the character of the original building.
Facilities provided in the new building are generally research accomoodation together with back-up administration and Seminar/Meeting areas.
