Approach

Designed for the department of Chemical Engineering the ChemEng Discovery Space is a new teaching and research facility that includes the worlds most advanced Carbon Capture Pilot Plan (CCPP) and over 2500sqm of cutting edge teaching and laboratory accommodation.

Built to the highest industrial standards, the Carbon Capture Pilot Plant stretches over four floors is at the centre of the Chemical Engineering Department, providing a fully hands-on discovery experience for students and researchers alike.

We also designed the new Pilot Plant Control Room which is the nerve centre for the CCPP. Featuring a range of complex and cutting edge technologies to control the Pilot Plant, the Control Room gives students the opportunity to gain hands on knowledge that will be crucial for their future careers.

We also completely revamped all teaching laboratories in the building, increasing overall efficiency and significantly improving access for people with disabilities. We created a whole new floor of laboratories delivering cutting edge teaching and research space.
