Queen Elizabeth University Hospital

Project Discription

We were responsible for the delivery of exemplar plans for six departments within the new Children’s Hospital at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Campus. It is part of a campus incorporating a 1400 bed adult hospital and as such, one of Europe’s largest healthcare campus.

The new hospital contains a Department of Adolescent Mental Health Service providing a tiered model of service delivery involving community development, outpatient, day patient and inpatient facilities for children and adolescents generally up to their 18th birthday.

One of the key departments within the Children’s Unit is the Theatre Complex which sits deep in the plan core with key clinical adjacencies to Paediatric ICU, as well as Intensive Care, Imaging, Cardiology beds and the 23 Hour Ward.

The patient pathway is complex and routes to be short and well defined. This has resulted in a deep plan with a central recovery, serving the eleven new theatres.
