Teenage Cancer Care @ The Beatson

The 6-bed ward provides a vibrant care environment where teenage patients can interact with each other, stay connected to the outside world and enjoy a large degree of independence.

Patients can spend up to 6 months in the unit. In collaboration with teenage patients, we developed a system to discretely integrate the clinical function of the ward bedrooms into a modern hotel aesthetic to create a space that the patients can identify with and be themselves.

The ‘chill out zone’ is the main feature of the unit and combines a music and DVD station, a TV area, a kitchen diner, a computer suite and a games area.
