BMJ Architects designed the 12th-floor office and laboratory areas for Cell & Gene Therapy Catapult London within Guy’s Tower at Guy’s Hospital.
Cell & Gene Therapy Catapult is part of a network established by Innovate UK to create world-class research and development facilities, linking academic, NHS and research expertise with manufacturing and industry.
Designed for Collaboration
BMJ’s design included interior design and space planning tailored to the organisation’s collaborative working methods and operational ethos. The project is one of several BMJ has delivered within Guy’s Tower for King’s College London and Guy’s & St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust.
The facility is located among a concentration of world-class research institutions within the tower and wider hospital campus. A key feature is the viewing area between laboratories and office space, encouraging interaction between clinical and office-based teams.
Concept and Strategy
BMJ worked closely with turnkey specialists to bring office and laboratory environments together into a cohesive, flexible and imaginative workplace.
The 1,200 sqm facility includes laboratories designed to mimic manufacturing suites, supporting the progression of cell therapies from laboratory research to commercial-scale production and medical treatment.
